Voluntary applications for mental health services - treatment of minors
Establishes standards and procedures for the voluntary admission of minors into an institution for mental health services. These standards and procedures address who may consent to the treatment, when a guardian ad litem must be appointed, involuntary admissions, and periodic reviews of the necessity for hospitalization. Permits patients that are involuntarily admitted for a 72 hour evaluation to consent to voluntary admission. Requires the provider supervising their case to document this change in status in the patient’s medical record.
