Pregnant woman to take blood test.
Requires providers that care for pregnant patients to obtain a blood sample during their first clinical visit or during their first trimester for the purpose of performing syphilis and HIV tests. Requires hospitals to perform such testing if a patient presents for delivery without having undergone such tests earlier in their pregnancy. Permits pregnant patients to refuse testing. Requires providers to document the refusal in the patient’s medical record.
