Psychiatric Medications.
 
Specifies the information that mental health facilities to must give patients and their legal guardians when ordering psychiatric medications. Such information includes the name of the prescribed medication, the reasons for the prescription, possible side effects, etc. Requires mental health facilities to give this information to a patient’s parents or legal guardians if they are under the age of 15. Requires facilities to establish procedures for documenting their provision of information and the patient’s consent in the patient’s clinical record. Prohibits providers from punishing or threatening punishment to patients that do not voluntarily take prescribed psychiatric medication. Requires facilities to establish procedures for documenting medication administration, adverse reactions, and errors.
