Surveillance and Utilization Control Program
The Department of Human Services must implement a program for surveillance and utilization review of medical assistance programs. There must be a post payment review process to monitor use of medical assistance by patients and delivery by providers. A utilization control program must be in place to monitor the quality of health care provided at a hospital, long term facility, or institution for treatment of mental disease.
