Access to Records
A recipient of medical assistance (Medicaid or Medicare or other medical assistance program beneficiary) is assumed to have authorized the release of medical information and the patient’s health service records to the Department of Human Services with the recipient’s initial application for medical assistance.
A vendor or provider must give the Department access to inspect the health service records of the vendor’s financial records during normal business hours in order to investigate potential cases of fraud, theft, abuse or error, pursuant to MN ADC 9505.2200.
