A procedure is put in place for timely claims processing and payment procedures to be used in billing for Medicaid services rendered. The claims procedure must identify the patient, the provider, the plan, the services rendered, and other items laid out by the statute. The services rendered must be coded according to a universal system of coding. An external review process is also put in place to handle adverse payment decisions.
