Medical Records Services
Hospitals must maintain confidential medical records for all admitted patients. The medical records must be kept for at least 10 years following the patient’s discharge or the date on which a child patient reaches the age of 18. Hospitals must also maintain summaries of destroyed medical records for at least 25 years. These summaries must include information such as the patient’s name, relatives, procedures, and diagnosis.
