Information program for drug prescribing and dispensing
Requires the Board of Pharmacy, subject to available funding, to establish a drug prescribing and dispensing “information program.” Tasks the program with collecting prescribing and dispensing information from pharmacists and prescribing practitioners as a means of helping these providers identify patients that are abusing or unlawfully diverting drugs or patients that are at risk of addiction. Requires the Board to administer the program through electronic health and pharmacy information systems that utilize encryption and other industry approved security technology.
