Requirements for the PMP
Requires pharmacies to report records of reportable prescriptions to Iowa’s Prescription Monitoring Program. Lists exceptions to the reporting requirements (e.g., hospital pharmacies that dispense controlled substances on an inpatient basis). Specifies the information that pharmacies must include in their reports (e.g., DEA number, prescription number, patient name, etc.). Permits reporting through an a secure internet connection, electronic media, or a standard universal claim form. Permits chain pharmacies to submit combined data.
