Requires skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities to maintain patient/resident records. Specifies the information that must be included in patient/resident medical records (e.g., medical history, progress notes, physician orders, etc.). Requires the facility’s records clerk to review the completeness of records upon the discharge or death of a patient/resident and retain the records for at least seven years, or for minors, seven years after the patient/resident turns 18. Requires facilities to securely store records.
