Idaho Admin. Code r. 27.01.01.350, Pharmacist Prescribing: General Requirements

Authorizes pharmacists to prescribe drugs and devices if they have a patient-prescriber relationship with the patient, have met proper educational requirements, and have obtained enough information about the patient’s condition to enable them to make decisions in accordance with the appropriate standard of care. Requires pharmacists to recognize when it is appropriate to consult with a health care provider or refer the patient to another provider. Requires pharmacists to establish follow-up care plans and, if the patient has a primary care provider, to notify this provider of the prescription within five days of issuing it. Specifies the information that pharmacists must document when writing prescriptions (e.g., patient assessment information, follow-up care plan, etc.).
