Resident Record System
Nursing homes must establish an organized record system to house resident records. These records must include: (1) the resident’s identification information; (2) admission information (e.g. medical and social history); (3) a plan of care; (4) copies of periodic examinations, evaluations, and progress notes made by the facility and the department; (5) information regarding the treatments, services, and medications given to the resident during their time at the facility; (6) information regarding illnesses and injuries suffered by the patient; and (7) a discharge summary.
Only authorized department of social and health services employees and nursing home employees that work directly with the resident may access the resident’s records.
