Data on inmates of hospitals, etc.
All institutions that treat, confine, or commit individuals pursuant to a court order must keep recordsof the individuals in their care. Physicians treating individuals housed in a facility because they have contracted an infectious disease must document information regarding the disease, including the likely place means of contraction, in the individual’s record. Physicians must obtain this information from the individual, but if the individual is not forthcoming, may seek the facts from relatives, friends, or other knowledgeable persons.
