“Power of commissioner; enforcement under the banking and insurance law”
The commissioner of financial regulation is authorized to investigate any health insurer to determine whether it engaged in any unfair method of competition or unfair or deceptive act or practice. A health insurer may be penalized up to $1000 for each violation of the state’s insurance trade practices law. The commissioner may impose a penalty of $10,000 for each violation that was committed intentionally.
