“Health care providers providing telemedicine or store and forward services under the health law”
A health care provider may treat a patient either in person or electronically. Treatment recommendations made via electronic means, including issuing a prescription, must be held to the same standards of practice as those in traditional provider-patient settings.
A patient receiving teleophthalmology or teledermatology must be informed of the right to receive a consultation with a distant site health care provider. Health care providers involved in telemedicine process must ensure informed consent from the patient.
