“Information for midwives under the Secretary of State regulations”
Each midwife must keep accurate records and make records available upon request to the client, the client’s representative, for peer reviews, or up the Director of the Office of Professional Regulation for periodic quality review.
A midwife must participate in at least 4 separate peer review meetings evaluating the midwife’s practice during each 2 year renewal period as a condition of licensure. Each peer review must be conducted by at least two other midwives. Peer reviews of the midwife’s practice must include process of care, outcome data, referral patterns, and discussion of specific cases.
