Transfer of Prescription
Establishes procedures for transferring prescriptions to a new pharmacy upon the request a of patient or their representative. Limits the transfer of schedule III, IV, and V prescriptions to a single transfer, but permits the transfer of noncontrolled substances up to the number of authorized refills while the original prescription remains valid. Requires pharmacies to maintain records of original and transferred prescriptions for two years following the transfer. Specifies the information that must be maintained in records of prescription transfers. Permits pharmacies to transfer prescriptions electronically.
