Reports required to state health officer
Requires pharmacists to report unusual sales of nonprescription drugs to the State Health Officer if they believe the sales are related to a public health emergency. Permits the State Health Officer or their designees to review medical records to confirm diagnosis or identify diseases. Permits such review to occur without patient consent if there is a public health emergency or disease outbreak. Requires the State Health Officer to maintain the confidentiality of reviewed medical records. Prohibits the disclosure of medical information for purposes other than investigating and controlling a disease. Subjects persons that violate the confidentiality requirements to a maximum $1,000 fine and/or 6 months imprisonment.
