Records and Inventory Requirements Generally
Establishes controlled substances record keeping requirements for manufacturers, distributors, importers, narcotic treatment programs, practitioners, and pharmacies. Requires practitioners to maintain records regarding controlled substances which they prescribe, administer, or dispense. Requires pharmacies to maintain controlled substances records separate from other records and to further separate records regarding Schedules I-II and Schedules III-IV. Permits pharmacies to maintain such records electronically or in writing. Requires pharmacies to reconcile their controlled substances inventory at least once per quarter and report significant discrepancies to the Board of Pharmacy within 10 days of discovery. Defines a significant discrepancy as occurring when there is a 5 percent difference between the recorded and actual inventory.
