Practitioner's Orders
 
Requires drug orders to be transmitted to an institutional pharmacy either electronically or in a form that allows for direct copying or electronic reproduction of a fax. Requires pharmacists to review drug orders before dispensing the drug or as soon as possible if the drug is dispensed during an emergency or when the pharmacist is not available. Specifies the information that drug orders must contain (e.g., patient name, drug name, practitioner’s electronic or written signature, etc.).
