Long Term Care Quality Profiles
A quality profile system is put in place for nursing facilities that provide medical assistance to the needy under Medicaid or Medicare. The purpose of such a system is to provide quality information on nursing facilities to consumers and their families, providers, public and private purchasers of long term care. The Commissioner of Health must apply existing quality measures to emphasize quality of care and quality of life and address the needs of users of long term care. Once the quality measures have been established, the Commissioner must conduct surveys of users of long terms care facilities to develop the quality profiles of the providers. The results of the quality profiles must be distributed throughout the elder community and to the public.
