Reporting
Any licensed health care professional who has reason to believe that a person may pose a health threat, may report the information to the Commissioner of Health. This is a voluntary activity by providers, so if the provider does report a health threat, he or she will not be subject to civil, criminal or other liability for reporting.
If a person makes a false report of a health threat, that person will be subject to civil liability by the person against whom the report was made and will pay punitive damages.
