Use of Quality Measures by Health Plan Companies
A health plan company may require health care providers it contracts with to report standardized quality measures. Non standardized quality measures may be voluntarily reported by providers, but cannot be required by the insurer. A health plan company is permitted to derive quality measures from other data sources or from administrative data.
