Medical Records
Requires critical access hospitals to maintain secure, confidential medical records for each patient and specifies the information these records must include (e.g., identifying data, diagnosis, test results, etc.). Requires facilities to complete patient medical records within 15 days of discharge. Requires facilities to establish policies for safeguarding medical records that address items such as when the facility may disclose record information and patient consent for disclosure.
