Laboratories that detect communicable diseases while conducting an exam must report the exam results and relevant facts to the same health official that an attending physician would report to upon detecting a communicable disease.
Laboratories must maintain a record of the facts surrounding the exam, the exam subject’s identity, and the physician who ordered the exam for as long as the Commissioner requires.
