Nurses, nurse-midwifes, and other persons that care for infants under the age of 2 weeks old must immediately report eye inflammation or redness to their local health officer or a licensed medical practitioner. Failure to comply with this reporting requirement or treating the child without a health officer or practitioner’s advice constitutes a misdemeanor.
