Requires skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities to contract with qualified personnel for the provision of specialized rehabilitation services (e.g., physical therapy, audiology). Requires an attending physician to order services as part of the resident/patient’s plan of care. Requires the ordering physician to receive a report on the patient/resident’s progress within two weeks of the start of services and for information regarding the services (e.g., doctors orders, plan of care, etc.) to be documented in the patient/resident’s medical record.
