All providers receiving Medicaid payments for the treatment of patients must maintain medical records, including the treatment or care of patients and any services provided to patients. Such medical records must be retained for at least 5 years from the date of payment. Anyone failing to satisfy these requirements is guilty of failing to retain records and subject to fines and possible sentencing.
