Electronic drug prior authorization and transmission -- Limitations,
Requires prior authorization requests to be accessible to providers through their eRx software system by August 1, 2015. Requires payers, insurance companies, and pharmacy benefits managers to electronically accept such requests by this date. Prohibits the use of eRx transmission devices to send advertisements or other messages or mechanisms meant to influence prescribing decisions. Clarifies that prescribing software may include formulary information so long as the software’s design does not make prescribing or selecting a pharmacy more difficult for a provider or patient.
