Data Collection
Requires designated trauma care facilities to participate in the statewide trauma registry. Requires the Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) to collect and analyze registry data as a means of improving the quality of care, performing prevention and surveillance activities, and conducting resource planning. Identifies possible sources of registry data as including hospital discharge data, medical examiner reports, and prehospital providers. Identifies the categories of data that the OEMS must publish and periodically review (e.g., demographic, quality assurance, outcomes, etc.). Requires OEMS to use a case specific patient identifier that complies with the confidentiality requirements for the registry. Requires OEMS to periodically report trauma registry data to the submitting facilities.
