A judge may permanently bar providers that are sentenced or placed on probation for committing medical assistance fraud from participating in the medical assistance program or suspend their participation for a maximum of 2 years. The Rhode Island Medicaid program may recommend that the judge bar or suspend the provider and may impose administrative sanctions on the provider in addition to those imposed by the court.
