The state’s Attorney General has the authority to conduct investigations related to violations of the state’s anti-fraud provisions. Over the course of any such investigation any and all records related to patient care, or financial data in the health care provider’s possession must be made available to the attorney general. The law also makes it illegal for anyone to knowingly destroy or conceal those records, with the intent to defraud the medical assistance program.
