“Ambulatory Surgery Center Healthcare-associated Infection Data Collection, Submission and Reporting”
This section establishes the definitions applicable to healthcare associated infections.
- “Betsy Lehman Center” means the Betsy Lehman Center for Patient Safety and Medical Error Reduction.
- “Healthcare-associated infection” (HAI), means a localized or systemic condition that results from an adverse reaction to the presence of an infectious agent or its toxins that occurs to a patient in a hospital.
- “The National Healthcare Safety Network” (NHSN) means the data collection network operated by the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
