Equity and Disparities in Tennessee

        Tennessee has created an office of minority health within the department of health for the purpose of advocating to enhance the quality of life and to address any disparity of health services available for minorities in the state.1  The office has a number of duties, which include the assessment of health needs of the minority population, the recommendation of programs sensitive to cultural, linguistic, and ethnic needs of the minority population and the dissemination of information on the availability of minority health services.2
