Michigan’s Legislature has given the Department of Public Health the authority to act to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities. Authorized activities include the creation of a governmental entity to address racial and ethnic health disparities, data collection, funding initiatives that reduce or eliminate racial health disparities, recruitment of minority health professionals, and an education campaign.1
