All local health departments must diagnose and treat venereal disease cases. The local health departments must treat all individuals regardless of race, age, sex, national origin, or income. Mandatory services include a physical examination, diagnostic tests, treatment, and follow-up examinations, among others. All medical records must be retained for no less than 5 years after the last syphilis test or no less than 1 year for other venereal diseases.
