Auxiliary Pharmacy Recordkeeping Procedures
If an automated data processing system is used to maintain a patient’s medication record, there must also be an auxiliary recordkeeping procedure available for use when the automated system is temporarily unavailable. The record keeping procedure must provide for the maintenance of all patient recordkeeping information. Once the automated system is back in place, the information that was put in the auxiliary record must be transferred to the automated system, after which the auxiliary record may be destroyed.
