Trauma registry
 
Requires trauma care facilities to report patient data to the Department of Public Health. Identifies reportable data as that listed in the Iowa Trauma Patient Data Dictionary. Classifies registry data as confidential and prohibits disclosure of individually identifying information unless disclosure occurs in accordance with federal and state law. Permits disclosure of patient data for research purposes so long as they study proposal receives Department approval in regards to the scientific merit of the study and the researchers’ plan for safeguarding confidentiality.
