Testing and reporting requirements
Requires the clinician responsible for a newborn infant to conduct screening and confirmatory-diagnostic testing as specified by the Department of Health. Requires clinicians and/or screening laboratories to report screening and diagnostic-confirmatory test results to the Department. Requires clinicians to obtain the informed consent of the infant’s parents or guardian prior to screening or testing. Permits parents to refuse screening in which case the clinician must report the refusal to the Department of Health in a document signed by the parents or guardians. Requires clinicians that detect a disease not detected by the newborn screening programs to report the incidence to the Department.
