Sharing of information and confidentiality
Classifies information and records regarding the newborn hearing screening program as confidential. Prohibits release of such information unless it is released to the child’s parents or guardians, an entity that administers a special needs program pursuant to a Department of Public Health contract, health care providers, government officials that need the information to carry out their duties, or to persons that need the information to perform follow-up screening. Permits disclosure for research purposes so long as the researchers submit a research proposal that receives IRB approval.
