The Patient Safety Center must:
- Develop and disseminate performance information and promote participation by health plans, providers, and professionals in “voluntary, cooperative efforts to improve patient safety in health care quality…”
- Recommend medical safety goals and monitor providers’ ability to meet these goals.
- Conduct audits and other activities to “assure the validity of statewide reporting systems.”
- Analyze provider performance.
- Report its findings to the governor and legislature.
