“Disciplinary action; remedial reporting under the hospitals and sanitaria law”
The board of medicine may initiate a disciplinary proceeding against a physician or surgeon on its own or upon written complaint of any person who alleges that a person licensed by the board has committed misconduct. The board may discipline a physician or surgeon for practicing medicine in an incompetent or negligent manner. The board may also impose sanctions if a physician or surgeon is found to have failed to maintain adequate medical record documentation on medical treatment provided.
Every court clerk and insurer, including self-insurers, providing professional liability insurances to a medical professional must report medical malpractice.
