“Disclosure of information from vital records under the state and its government law”
Vital records may only be released to individuals who have a direct and tangible interest to the record, which includes:
- The individual that a record pertains to or the individual’s immediate family, guardian or legal representative;
- Members of the news media;
- Federal, state, or local agencies conducting health related research;
- The Department of Health and Human Services; and
- A court conducting paternity adjudications.
Commercial firms requesting a list of names and addresses may not receive vital records data.
