“Records required for market conduct purposes under the insurance law”
A health insurer must maintain its records in a manner that enables the insurance commissioner to readily ascertain the insurer’s compliance with state laws and NAIC standards, including company operations and management, policyholder service, marketing, network adequacy, underwriting, rating, complaint/grievance handling, and claims practices. The records must be retained for five years.
