Responsibilities of hospitals, physicians, and other health professionals
Requires health care providers to notify the parent or guardian of a newborn infant of the need to perform screening tests. Requires providers to document test results in the infant’s medial record. Requires providers to obtain a parent or guardian’s signature in the event the parent or guardian refuses to let their infant undergo screening. Providers must place a copy of this refusal in the infant’s medical record and report the refusal to the Department of Health within 24 hours.
