The following individuals may consent to their own care, unless they fall within the exceptions under Ind. Code § 16-36-1-4:
- An adult;
- An emancipated minor, who is at least 14 years old, not dependant on parents, living apart from parents, is married, or in the military.
- A person who is at least 17 does not require parental permission to donate blood;
- A person who is at least 16 may donate blood with written parental permission;
- A person who is or may be subject to a venereal disease.
