The commissioners of the office of mental health and of the office for people with developmental disabilities must establish procedures to receive complaints of abuse or mistreatment of individuals served by agencies and providers licensed or operated by such offices. Allegations and complaints must be evaluated and referred, when necessary, for appropriate corrective action. If the allegation of abuse or mistreatment relates to a child, the allegation must be referred to the statewide central register of child abuse and maltreatment.
