Any health care worker who reasonably believes that a serious event or incident has occurred must report the event according to the patient safety plan of the facility within 24 hours of the event’s occurrence. The facility must provide written notification to any patient affected by a serious event within 7 days of the occurrence or discovery.
Any documents, materials, or information prepared or created for the purpose of compliance with the above reporting requirements are confidential and will not be discoverable or admissible as evidence in any civil or administrative action or proceeding.
