“Prescribing and Dispensing Requirements”
Licensed Arizona physicians must document the dispensing of controlled substances and prescription drugs and devices in a patient’s medical record. Prior to dispensing the controlled substance, drug, or device, a physician must make sure that the label and content of the item match the prescription and that the patient is informed of how to use and store the item. Physicians must purchase controlled substances, drugs, and devices from an FDA approved manufacturer or a licensed Arizona pharmacy.
