Hospitals are required to have a written, facility-wide quality assurance program to evaluate and monitor the quality and appropriateness of patient care. The quality assurance plan must include evaluation of services related to patient care and quarterly recorded, written documentation of quality assurance activities. Additionally, all medical and surgical services performed in the hospital must be evaluated as they relate to appropriateness of diagnosis and treatment.
